Deaconess Foundation sponsored transportation program invites community to learn about independent transportation network program
Community is invited to RSVP for community tea event on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. to learn about the independent transportation network, ITNGreaterCincinnati (ITNGC). The service, which provides dignified transportation for senior citizens and visually impaired adults in the Greater Cincinnati area. ITNGC is run by Deaconess Foundation and staffed by volunteer drivers. It has been operating only since May of 2010. This community tea event will be held at Courtyard at the Seasons, 7100 Dearwester Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. Reservations are encouraged for event; call Betsy at (513) 984-7289 by Friday, January 28, 2011.
The “door through door” service, which members pay for through a Personal Transportation Account®, has become popular, says ITNGC director Nancy Schuster, because of the personal, caring attitudes of drivers who help seniors with steps, doors, packages and walkers.
ITNGreaterCincinnati is actively looking for volunteer drivers with good driving records to help meet rider demand. This is a great opportunity for those who are planning their 2011 volunteer commitments.
